blackhead dormant?

whaddaya reckon
3 years ago you could turn up any tide
and get a decent wave - some tides were
better than others, but still good waves
no matter when

last year it started turning into a one tide
break and this year even more so...miss the tide
and you miss the waves
checked it a coupla times today - admitidly she was
pretty small, but I reckon the swell thats just
been thru has taken a whole heap more sand
away and it may not even break at all...

how long ago did yas last surf there...and how
long ago since you had it good?
last good surf I had there was 2 weeks ago
and it was good...but thats the best Ive had it in ages

I havent seen blackhead real good on a long time.
last time I surfed it, it was March.
the sand loss has made a great5 impact on the banks, and it appears to be getting worse, its all rock, no banks.
compared to how it used to be

of late there havn't been the strong Nth swells to push the sand in.,
the corner is not as good as it used to be but 100mtrs down the beach still sets up good pretty regularly.
with the quarry decreasing the hill in epic slices bhead will no longer be the sheltered ne spot and smails will become the haven

spoke to a real local the other day and he
said he has seen it come and go before
so must will just be a time thing hopefully

he didnt really say whether he had seen it

I've lived in Dunedin for over 40 years.
yes, the sand comes and goes.
I haven't paid too much attention to sand lavels at Blackhead until about ten years ago, but have seen images of it prior with way more sand, and never a loss of sand this much.

As for speedies.. can't say where but its not hard to work out if you think about it.
